Bacon And Cheese Gem Squash

Bacon And Cheese Gem Squash. A great side dish for any meal.

  • Yields: 4 servings


2 whole gem squash, halved

2 tsp of unsalted butter

125 g of bacon bits

2 cups of shredded white cheddar

Pinch of salt

Pinch of pepper


1Cut the gem squash in half and remove all of the seeds only leaving the flesh.

2Cook the gem squash in a pot with water or steam for 15 Minutes, gem must just be covered with water.

3Remove from water.

4In a frying pan, fry the bacon bits until crispy.

5Place 1/2 tsp of butter, bacon bits and white cheddar inside the gem squash.

6Preheat oven to 180° C and place gem squashes inside a square baking dish.

7Bake in the oven for 5 Minutes until cheese has melted.

8Remove from the oven and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
